If you want to experience the local tradition, you should try the tasteful delicacies. Marzipans and local sweets are made of a variety of fruits, while raki and citron are traditional beverages. You can visit Portara, the main landmark of Naxos, which is a giant entrance and the only remnant of an ancient temple dedicated to Apollo found on the island of "Palatia".
Saint George is one of the island’s most popular beaches. There is refined sand, exceeding one kilometre. The beaches of Agios Prokopios and Agia Anna are also very well-liked.
You should take advantage of convenience and visit the Venetian Castle, in the centre of town. It remains intact from the years of Venetian empire (1207 - 1564) and is an important part of Naxos’ history. There are more than 40 small villages on the island that you can visit, each carrying its own history and traditions.
