The Convent of San Fransisco was built by the Dávila de la Cueva in 1596. It is located in an area of outstanding historic and artistic interest just 5 minutes from the main square. Here visitors have the opportunity to discover the prettiest corners of the town, including the ‘corral de comedias’ (open-air theatre) and the surrounding nature reserves.

Travel information :
The Parador de Almagro, the ancient Santa Catalina Convent, is situated on the Ronda de San Francisco in the old part of the town.
Almagro, the former capital of the Order of Calatrava, is 200 km. from Madrid.
You can get there from Manzanares travelling down the Autovía Andalucía Madrid-Cádiz and turning off at exit 174 towards Bolaños-Almagro.
It is located 125 km. from Bailén and you can get there from Valdepeñas up the Andalucía Madrid-Cádiz motorway, turning off at exit 202 towards Ciudad Real.
It is 130 km. from Toledo on the Autovía de los Viñedos, joining up with the A-4 Madrid- Cadiz.
