The hotel's location between the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District National Parks makes it the perfect base for exploring some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK. Both national parks have caves, waterfalls, walking trails, lakes, stately homes and museums to explore.
The famous Settle-Carlisle Railway line is close by, where steam trains often operate. In nearby Ingleton Hill, White Scar Cave is Britain's longest show cave. NNearby Clapham encapsulates some the best of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. In the Lake District, Lake Windermere is only 30 minutes drive from the hotel and you can visit the quaint little towns of Windermere, Bowness-on-Windermere and Ambleside, which is home to the Beatrix Potter Museum. The historic town of Lancaster, Morecambe Bay and Blackpool are also a short drive away.

From the M6:
- Exit at junction 36.
- Join the A65 signposted Kirkby Lonsdale.
- Entering Nook, Cow Brow and Lupton, continue onto Kirkby Lonsdale, turning left onto the A683 to Casterton.
- From Casterton, the A683 is signposted all the way to Barbon.
- Turn right off the A683 into Barbon.
- The hotel is on the main road on the left, just before Barnrigg Road.
